Dr. George Francois

Ghanaian pianist Dr. George Francois lives in New York where he plays professionally, composes,arranges, and produces music. He is the Music Director and Organist of St. John’s MethodistChurch in Elmont, NY, and the founder of Sankusem, a Ghanaian NGO dedicated to theexploration and performance of African Classical Music. Dr. Francois has won prizes internationally,lectured in universities and conservatories in Virginia and New York, and given masterclassesand performances on the East and West coasts of the U.S., in the U.K., the Caribbean, and in Africa. Dr. Francois is an alumni of GIS and Achimota Secondary School.  He studied ethnomusicology at the University of Ghana, and piano performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, the University of Texas at Austin, the Juilliard School in New York, and Stony Brook University.
